Ring-Tailed Lemur

No visit to the zoo is complete unless you visit the primate area.  Like all lemurs, the ring-tailed lemur is found on the island of Madagascar, just off the southeast coast of Africa. These lemurs are one of the more popular primates and their long ringed tail makes them easy to identify. You will see them sitting up frequently, as they like to sunbathe to warm their underside. They’re fairly social, living in groups and the female is dominant.  I won’t comment on that last fact.

The lemur was found at the Houston Zoo.
