Capitol Fountain

At the base of the U.S. Capitol, facing the National Mall, is a fountain I’ve never noticed before. The fountain itself wasn’t that impressive, but the way the building curves around with the manicured trees caught my eye. Standing there looking up, you realize just how large this building really is. And to think the dome was completed in 1863 when the colossal statue named Freedom was added to the top, makes it that much more impressive.
