Skyline Drive

Occasionally you run across things you would like to do, but for whatever reason, you never get the opportunity. Visiting relatives in Virginia as a child, our family would always cross over Skyline Drive and would talk about going on it one day, but never did.

Recently, I had a chance to take my own family on Skyline Drive through the Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. It’s not a trip you want to take fast. You can’t drive above the 35 mph speed limit anyway, but that’s just fine. Take your time and enjoy the many overlooks and views. It’s enough to make you not want to go home.

  1. I have been through there a few times, that is some really beautiful country. I am glad you and your family had the opportunity to experience it for yourselves.

  2. God Bless you Tim. What a beautiful photo. I feel at home. I have family in the DC area and frequently fretted with taking the Skyline. However, I too have never done it. I even thought about it this last time, but now I see that was not the wisest decision. Maybe next time.

    1. It’s certainly beautiful country up there. We drove up 340 on the west side of the mountains from Elkton to Luray one day too. I kept wanting to pull over and buy some property and just retire right there, with my camera of course.
