The Early Bird

They say the early bird catches the worm. But if you’re the early boat that has the worms, then you’re catching fish.

There’s something magical about loading up the boat before sunrise and hitting the water just as the sun comes up. The water is calm and though things are still quiet, the birds are starting to stir. Then the sound of the outboard revs up and echoes across the top of the water, breaking the stillness of the new day.

  1. I love this shot! It reminds of staying with my grandparents who lived on Caney Creek. I can almost hear the fish jumping in the water and the boat motors reving up and heading out for bay fishing. Early morning was my favorite time of day to get up and sit out on the pier before Mamaw called me in for breakfast. She was a great cook and my Babaw was a great fisherman. Those were great summers on Caney Creek!

Thanks for the reminding me of some fun memories.
