Morning Calm

Sunsets and sunrises can be very relaxing, though I can get a bit anxious as I shoot, waiting for just the right moment, hoping that the sky will light up, or the clouds won’t totally obscure the sun. I typically take way too many shots, only to use one or two.

While in Pensacola last month, I found this boat one afternoon riding around with the family. I had been in this area the morning before, but hadn’t traveled down the beach. Seeing the trees, then the boat, I thought I would venture out again the next morning. It was still there and combined with the other boat and calm water made for a nice foreground to what might have been a somewhat plain sunrise.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did taking it in the calm morning stillness of the new day.

  1. I love morning sights and sounds on the water when all is calm. This reminds me of my grandparents’ home on Caney Creek when I was just a kid. I can still feel the cool morning air, hear the sides of the boat lapping against the water and a fish jumping in the water a few feet away. Thanks for the relaxing memories.
