Sunset Through the Field I wished I lived in an area that had more natural beauty close by. A few lakes or streams, or maybe some mountains or rolling hills would be nice. Anything to make a better foreground subject to sunsets would be desirable. As it is, parking lots and grocery stores just don't seem to be the right subjects to place in front of a pretty sunset. The best that I might hope for during an impromptu sunset photo session is an empty field with a few trees in the distance, or maybe some tall grass and wildflowers.
A Pair of Red Phone Booths Walking around in London, you actually do see the iconic red phone booths from time to time. But I'm not sure that anyone but tourists actually use them, as most people have cellphones now. I did see one that had an ATM inside. I thought that was a clever use for the booth. In our travels, we also saw a field of old phone booths; a red 'junk yard' of sorts. This pair was by some apartments of a busy square. It was hard to take a shot without the tourists playing around them all the time. Nothing like a pesky tourist getting in the way of another tourist's photo.
The Boats of Folkstone Folkestone Harbor in England is right on the English Channel. Though there is a hotel next door, it does not appear to be a resort type destination. Instead, it looks to be more of a working harbor. The boats there are not new, but seem to be very seaworthy. You get the feeling that the men who care for and use these boats are capable seamen. None of the boats are extremely large but all appear to be well taken care of, minus a row boat or two that are left aside for later use or repair.
