Austin Night Lights Walking around any downtown area at night is an entirely different experience than during the day. Lights become your focal point and draws your eye to see things that go unnoticed during the day. This is a little slice of downtown Austin, just as the trees begin to bud for springtime. After daytime sessions at SXSW, it was fun to stretch our legs and find a few things to photograph.
Capitol Street Lanterns There is something nostalgic about a street lantern. Sure it provides light at night, but it also adds character and charm to whatever area it adorns. On our last evening in Austin, I found these beautiful lanters at the Texas State Capitol. Sometimes I have to remind myself to look at the details and not only the larger, more obvious subjects. These lanterns jumped out at me after I got over the grandeur of the Capitol Building itself. Their large size and detail add to the beauty of each doorway of the majestic building.
Boots, Boots and More Boots There’s one thing you can always count on at a rodeo, and that is lots of boots. Boots on the cowboys, boots on the cowgirls and those that want to be (or at least pretend for the weekend). I grew up in boots in high school, but gradually stopped as I got older. In the Houston heat, it just doesn’t make sense sometimes. So like a lot of folks, I pull them out, polish them up and slap them on for rodeo time. I bet you have a pair in the closet somewhere too. These children boots come in all sizes and colors at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
