I always get a bit envious when I get an opportunity to view an airplane's cockpit. Always wanting to be a pilot, it's fun to view the instruments and silently pretend that I'm the one at the controls. Old or new, large or small, an airplane's cockpit is where I would enjoy spending a few hours flying over the landscape far below. In the meantime, I'll have to settle for the cramped quarters of coach seating, somewhere in the back. This is a view from the Lockheed Lodestar on the tarmac at Hobby Airport in Houston by the 1940 Air Terminal Museum. The HDR sequence really worked well here, as the outside exposure was much brighter than the dark interior. An individual exposure with existing light would not be capable of obtaining an image like this.
It was a typical, dreary London day. We were in the heart of London on a walking tour and made our way down Whitehall from Parliament Square. The sites and sounds of London were incredible, despite the gloomy weather. The air had a slight chill at times, but we were too impressed with everything to notice. By the time we reached Trafalgar Square, it started to sprinkle. Most people didn't seem bothered about the rain and sure enough, it ended soon. While the view was great, the skies just didn't cooperate for superb travel photos. But then again, this is what we expected in London.
Office furniture may not be on the top of everyone's list, but the right furniture can make your day at the office more bearable. With computers, digital phone systems, copiers and other hi-tech devices, it's hard to imagine using a typewriter with carbon paper or an adding machine to do the books with. This office is reminiscent of an old office in the 1950s; a simple chair, rolodex, adding machine and a desk fan were basic essentials. The fan was needed because air condition wasn't around then either. The building plans are those of those of the 1940 Air Terminal Museum. This was taken on the day I arrived an hour early, before they officially opened. It was nice to have the space to shoot before the crowd entered.
