If I had planned a little ahead, I would have used Monday’s photo for today, Valentines Day. Instead, you get the manly Union Pacific 1982 diesel locomotive that produces over 3,200 horsepower. But being the sensitive person that I am, I at least made sure to select a pretty color that all the ladies would appreciate too. Sorry, they didn’t have one in red. Happy Valentines Day.
I always enjoy visiting a museum, but science museums are my favorite. We are fortunate that Houston has a great one with the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Located in Herman Park, it continues to improve and grow. From it's main lobby, you can enter the main museum, planetarium, butterfly center, Imax, or large gift shop. Why there's even a McDonalds if you are so inclined. I snapped this HDR sequence last Sunday evening, just before entering to photograph some of the famous Faberge eggs that are on exhibit. The collection was beautiful, but I would love to spend a night at the museum just walking around, catching the mysterious atmosphere that museums seem to offer when no one is around.
Windsor Castle is much more than what you imagine when you think of a castle. It's a large fortress made of many buildings set, within a beautiful, landscaped complex. An official royal residence, Windsor Castle serves as the weekend home for the Royal Family and includes Windsor's State Apartments and St. Georges Chapel. Each king or queen has added something to the complex to leave their mark on the stately residence. Just over twenty miles from London (a day's march for troops), it should be included in any tour you might take when visiting London.
