Just behind the bridge of the USS Lexington aircraft carrier in the ship’s control area. This is where the engine speed, navigation instructions and other ship functions were relayed throughout the vessel.
Driving through the historic area of downtown Pensacola, I made my way down S. Palafox Street, where it ends by Pensacola bay. Docked close by was a large ship that appeared to be getting refit for carrying materials to sea, possibly oil rig equipment.
The Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier stretches out over the water and offers a great view of the Gulf and back towards Pensacola Beach. As it gets dark, the tourists start to leave, offering some nice shots of the long, empty pier.
