Occasionally you run across someone that is dressed in character at a public event. I'm always amazed at how well they can portray their character. Their mannerisms and knowledge of the person lends itself to a believable performance. The really good ones can't even be tricked into answering a question that might make it sound like they were in our time period and not theirs. This lady, or Betsy Ross, was found at the Liberty Festival last spring, raising money for disabled veterans. Not only is she looking pretty good for 260 years old, but that flag she is making might just have a future.
Down in the tunnels of Dover Castle were canons protecting the castle from unwanted visitors. I can only imagine how loud it may have been when those canons were firing.
It's hard to watch a sunset and remember it's the Earth that is spinning. From all outward appearances, it is the sun that is falling from the sky. We sit and watch the sun drop below the horizon and figure that someone in Australia is watching the sun come up. Later, their sunset turns into our sunrise.
