After a $100,000 renovation completed in 2008, the fountain looks as good as it did back when it was built in 1964. It even has electronically operated wind sensors that regulate the water height to guard against spray on windy days. The fountain has a total of 264 lights and shoots 8,000 gallons of water per minute.
Red Rocket Alan B. Shepard became the first American in space on 5 May 1961. He did it in a Mercury capsule, much like this mockup at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida. A bust of Shepard, who later walked on the moon as commander of Apollo 14 in 1971, is displayed next to this capsule mock-up.
Green Monster Underwater photography is a hobby that takes a lot of skill and money. First you have to get certified to scuba dive. Then you have to acquire special waterproof cameras and flash equipment. Next you have to have the funds to fly to your destination, rent your underwater gear and charter a boat and guide. Finally you swim around hoping to luck up on something really cool that will impress your friends. Or you can go find a really big aquarium like I did.
